Positive People!!

Long ago, a man used to live with his family happily. He got old and when his last moments came near, he called his son and said, “Son, I have spent my whole life educating the world. Now, in my last moments, I want to tell you something important.”

Listening to this son was looking at his father attentively. Just then his father said, “But before that go and bring a piece of coal and a piece of sandalwood to me.”

Son found this very strange but since it was his father’s order, he went out to bring coal and sandalwood.

He went to the kitchen where he found a big piece of coal easily. He took it and hold it in one hand. Then he went to the garden of his house where there was a small sandalwood tree. Since he was holding coal in one hand, he broke a piece of sandalwood from the tree with other hand. After getting both things, he went back to his father.

Seeing both objects in his hands, father asked him to drop both from his hands right there. Son did as asked. Since his hands had gotten dirtied, he thought of leaving to wash his hands. Seeing this, his father stopped him and said, “Wait son, show me your hands.”

When the son showed his hands, the father took his son's hands in his hands and then looking at the hand in which he was holding coal, he said, “Son, see.. this hand turned black as soon as you held coal in it. Even after you threw it away, soot remained in your hand. Such is the company of wrong people. It hurts to be with them and even if they are not there, you face notoriety (bad reputation) for life.”

Then looking at the other hand in which he was holding sandalwood, his father said, “On the other hand, the company of good people is like this sandalwood piece. If they accompany you, you get knowledge and even after they leave, the fragrance of their good thoughts will always remain with you for life. Therefore, always stay in the company of good people.”

Flash: Our surrounding and company of people we are in matters how we are. Be it our family, friends, co-workers, employees, every company shapes our behavior and output. When in company of good people we enjoy working, hanging out, and everything else.

Moral: You become pretty much alike the 5 people you spend the most time with. It is important to be selective who you spend time with. You don’t always have to avoid people who are not positive. But surrounding yourself with positive people will certainly help you become more positive.

The only true luxury is the luxury of a good company!!
