Alex was a marvelous thinker who was very famous for the books he had written.
Once Alex visited Guruji who was a saint and said to him, "I want to ask some questions from you."
Guruji handed him a blank piece of paper and said, "Before we talk, I want you to write down all that you know and all that you do not know. Then we shall talk about things that you don't now. What you already know, needs no education. It will only benefit you if we talk on matters you do not know."
Alex took the paper and went to the corner of the room, he meant to make a long list.
But when he started to write, he found himself in a strange predicament...
He asked himself - Do I know God?
The answer came from within - I do not know God at all!
Then he asked - Do I know a soul?
The answer was - I know about the soul but that is all.
For almost an hour, he grappled with himself but couldn't bring himself to write anything.
Then he went to Guruji, handed him the blank paper, and said, "Forgive me, I have been under an illusion and thought that I knew everything but the way you spoke and that look in your eyes made this seemingly simple question impossible to answer."
Guruji asked, "Then how did you write all those famous books?"
Alex replied, "They do not matter now. I was under a spell of my so-called learning but when you spoke to me for the first time and questioned me, I was overwhelmed with my ignorance."
Now I feel like I know nothing. "I have revealed enough in words and taken them for knowledge but as far as knowing is concerned, my attainment is zero."
Guruji said, "In that case, you are qualified to know, for you have understood the very basic that you know nothing."
Flash: Gaining knowledge is very good but without experience, the knowledge may not be helpful. The wise approach is to learn things (knowledge) and then analyse from multiple angles, spend some time enhancing this knowledge, practice it multiple times, train your mind to think about it and get the insightful understanding (education).
Moral: Do not be overwhelmed by the vastness of knowledge. Remember that the more you read new things, the more experienced and mature you become in life.
"Try new things everyday. Don't be afraid of failures. You will not lose anything, but your brain will be packed with experiences!!"
